COMPLETING THE MANAGER AND BUYER OF THE YEAR NOMINATION FORMS

Candidates for the Manager of the Year award must be supervisory and/or management level professionals in their organization and must have been actively employed in public purchasing for the entire year for which the candidate is applying.

Candidates for the Buyer of the Year award must be employed in rank and file positions (not supervisory and/or management level positions) in their organization and must have been actively employed in public purchasing for the entire year for which the candidate is applying.

Application Deadline: submissions must be received by the vice president on or before February 28. Applications received after February 28 cannot be considered.

Candidates should be rated utilizing a point system with a maximum score of 100. If the candidate has participated at least once in a listed activity, he/she should be awarded the maximum number of points listed unless otherwise specified. If the candidate has not participated in a listed activity, he/she should be awarded zero points.

Managers may actively participate in, or supervise the activity. Buyers must have performed the activity themselves or have primary responsibilities for performing the activity as a member of a team.

Activities must have taken place during the calendar year (January 1 - December 31) immediately preceding the year of entry (e.g., for submissions due February 28, 2007, activities must have occurred in 2006).

Supporting documentation is required for each activity. Please limit your submission to one 3-ring binder. Include the application in the front of the binder. Use tabs to indicate the activities where points are awarded and assemble in order of sections. All documentation should indicate when the candidate performed the activity. Do not submit videos.

The following areas are considered for nomination:

1 A: Award highest points for publishing multiple articles/advertisements; include copies of articles/advertisements.
1 B: Include new methodologies of purchasing, automation, Bulletin Board Service, EDI, etc.
1 C - D: Self-explanatory.
1 E: Please list description of activities and provide supporting detail.
2 A - C: Self-explanatory. Submit course curriculum, etc.
2 D: List activities and provide documentation.
3 A - E: Self-explanatory.
4 A - D: Self-explanatory.
4 E: List activities and provide documentation.
5 A: Self-explanatory.
5 B: List certifications and provide supporting documentation.
6 A - D: Self-explanatory.
6 E: List activities and include supporting documentation.
