These annual awards recognize public procurement professionals who have made significant contributions to the advancement of purchasing and professional development. The awards are presented each year at NMPPA's Spring Training Workshop.
Candidates are selected from nominations submitted to the Scholarship & Awards Program Committee. Nominations must be received by the committee no later than February 28 each year.

Instructions for completing the nomination forms
Nominees for the Manager of the Year award must be actively employed in public purchasing and must serve in a supervisory and/or management level position in their organization. Nominees for the Buyer of the Year award must also be actively employed in public purchasing and serve in a rank and file buyer position, not a supervisory or management position in the organization. Nominees are evaluated on their:
- contributions to purchasing and professional development
- contributions to the entity he or she serves
- contributions to NMPPA
- professional certification
- contributions to NIGP (not required for NMPPA Award)
The chapter's Scholarship & Awards Program Committee may choose to nominate the winner(s) of NMPPA's awards to the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP) annual awards competition. Supportive documentation of a winner's contributions to NIGP is required for this process. The committee forwards nomination(s) to NIGP by May 31.
